A Delicious Homemade BBQ Sauce!

Homemade bbq sauce is a must have in every pantry because it can be used in so many dishes that adds great flavour with little preparation.

Obviously, bbq sauce is used as a great condiment with many dishes, but it can also be used in many other ways. Pour this sauce over beef, chicken or pork in a crock pot and by the time you come home you'll have a delicious simple meal, ready to eat.

It's also great for basting anything on the barbeque and it simplifies any pulled meat dish. Pork, beef or chicken, just pour it on and cook.

There are so many possibilities.

The great thing about this sauce is that it's a simple sauce with lots of flavour, but it can also be used as a great starter where you can add any favourite ingredients.

Want some heat, add a hot pepper; want some sweetness, add some crushed pineapple. Experiment with your favourite spices, like turmeric, cumin, chili powder or crushed garlic.

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup organic ketchup
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 T organic molasses or organic brown sugar
  • 2 T Dijon mustard
  • 1 T worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ t sea salt
  • 1/8 t black pepper

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil. Simmer on low heat, uncovered for 1 hour until flavours blend and the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.

After looking at an ingredients list on a bottle of bbq sauce from the supermarket, you will want to make your own healthier version, in most cases the first ingredient is sugar. This homemade barbecue sauce is very different, it's main ingredient is tomato sauce.
