Homemade pizza sauce is great cooking staple. The next time you prepare a homemade pizza at home you will notice the amazing difference in taste.
The varieties at the grocery store simply don't measure up, they are tasteless and fill with preservatives.
The great thing about making your own pizza sauce is that you can personalize it to your own liking.
You can add hot sauce, fresh herbs, olives, onions, vegetables, your favourite spices, anything your heart desires. Let's face it the sauce is the most important part of pizza, so jazz it up.
You can make a large batch of this sauce and put it in canning jars, so it's readily available or if time permits, you can whip it up during the day. That's what I do, it's fresh and I can make it different each time.
Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and cook until heated and spices are blended. Spoon over pizza dough, add toppings and bake. Quick and easy.
Canned: This recipe may be doubled, tripled, etc… to make a large batch to store in jars for the pantry. Place the pizza sauce in hot sterilized jars leaving ¼ inch headspace. Seal with sterilized lids and bands. Process in a canner for 20 minutes. Remove jars and allow to completely cool (24 hours) before checking for a proper seal.
